Tips for Hosting a Stress-Free Thanksgiving

By

Tips for hosting a stress-free ThanksgivingThanksgiving can be a stressful day for all, especially if you’re the host and responsible for planning and cooking most of dinner. Whether this is your first Thanksgiving or thirtieth, the pressure of entertaining a home full of guests is still upon you. This year, do not let the stress stop you from enjoying this holiday with your family and friends. Here are some tips to help you celebrate a worry-free Thanksgiving:

  • Store-Bought Items
Most grocery stores have prepared Thanksgiving dishes that you can order and pick up. Why spend extra hours trying to cook everything when someone can do it for you? Trust us, no one will care especially if this means more time together. Items like pies, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc. can be bought to keep your Thanksgiving dinner stress free.

  • Start cooking early!
If you are one of those people who thinks buying store-bought food for Thanksgiving is not acceptable, then start cooking early this year. Cooking early minimizes your stress because it takes away the pressure of getting everything done in one day. Start over the weekend and buy all of the groceries you may need. Then on Monday, start preparing items that do not need to be refrigerated. For items that need to be refrigerated, prepare them on Wednesday; if it is cold enough outside, you can put them in your garage to keep fresh until the big day. Doing a little each day can prepare you for a relaxing Thanksgiving Day when it comes time to cook the turkey!
  • Delegate tasks
Do not be afraid to ask for help and delegate tasks to family members who will be eating the food you cook. If your family offers to help, take it. If your children do not offer, make them pitch in! It will allow for more time together as a family and take the stress off of your shoulders.
