Morningside Gardens

The residents of our Stamford apartment rentals at Morningside Gardens in Norwalk are perfectly situated to enjoy all the best amenities Norwalk has to offer. With the summer winding down, thoughts begin to turn to back-to-school lists. Whether you are in grad school at one of the local campuses, attending Continuing Ed in the evenings or if you have school-age children of your own, shopping for everything you need to get the school year off to a good start can be daunting. That’s why it’s always nice to report the annual “Tax Free Week” is back. There was some concern in Hartford that the current budget situation might deter legislators from allowing a week of tax-free shopping but, thankfully, the conclusion was reached that the benefits to CT residents would far out-weigh the lost tax revenue.

So Connecticut will hold its annual Tax-Free Week from Sunday, Aug. 21, to Saturday, Aug. 27. Consumers will not pay the 6.35 percent sales tax on clothing and footwear priced under $300 during the week. The week is timed each year to coincide with back-to-school shopping. The price you see is the price you pay – no add-ons from the state.

From Prospect Street, our Norwalk residents can head west on CT Avenue for Target, Kohl’s, Old Navy and Wal-Mart. Or they can go north for Bob’s, Hawley Lane Shoes and the bigger Wal-Mart on the Norwalk/Wilton line. All these stores are less than 2 miles away so you’ll save money on gas, save the tax and save plenty of time to your Morningside Gardens home!
