SoundWaters Make a Difference Day Scheduled for this Weekend

Cove Island Park near Stamford ApartmentsHave you been looking for a way to give back to your community? This weekend, residents of downtown Stamford apartments will have the opportunity to participate in SoundWaters Make a Difference Day in conjunction with International Coastal Clean-up Day at Cove Island Park.

Beginning at 10 a.m., volunteers will come together to clean-up debris and trash that litter the beach and park. In addition to keeping Cove Island Park beautiful, this clean-up day will help to protect the birds and marine life that call the park home. Often times, animals will mistake a small piece of trash or debris for food which can lead to their death.

In addition to the clean-up efforts, volunteers will have the opportunity to learn more about the dangers of trash and debris with demonstrations at the SoundWaters Coastal Education Center. From children to adults, the SoundWaters Make a Difference Day is a great opportunity for residents to help keep their city clean. For more information on SoundWaters Make a Difference Day, call 203-406-3302.

In addition to the Coastal Education Center, Cove Island Park offers hours of fun for the entire family with a one-mile loop walking/running trail, children’s play area, roller blade/cycling path and expansive lawn that is perfect for flying a kite. For water loves, there are two sandy beaches, a small salt marsh, intertidal mudflats and the estuarine embayments of Holly Pond and The Cover River.
