Ring in the Holidays at Hamden’s Silverbells Celebration on Dec. 7

SilverbellsThe Hamden Arts Commission and Department of Arts, Recreation and Culture are pleased to present the annual Silverbells celebration at the Miller Cultural Center and Town Center Park this Saturday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 7. Face painting, crafting, carousel rides, musical performances and a visit from Santa are just a few of the activities Hamden residents can look forward to this year, approximately five minutes away from the apartment rentals at Seramonte.

The schedule of events at the Silverbells winter celebration is as follows:

Activities at Miller Cultural Center on Saturday, Dec. 6:

  • Face painting at the Hamden Public Library begins at 1 p.m.
  • “Mr. Punch’s Christmas Carol” puppet show production by the award-winning Crabgrass Puppet Theater will begin at 2:30 p.m., located at 2901 Dixwell Avenue. Admission for the show is $2 per child, $3 per adult.

Hamden Town Center Park activities on Sunday, Dec. 7:

  • Carousel rides, hayrides and holiday crafts will take place from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Children can write letters to Santa, make buttons and have their faces painted. A new addition this year is the trolley for holiday crafts, provided by the P.L.A.C.E. Multicultural Children’s Museum.
  • Caroling with the Hamden Girl Scouts begins at 3:45 p.m.
  • Hamden Elementary School singers will join the Girl Scout troop at Hamden Rotary Pavilion at 4:15 p.m. for musical performances and a tree-lighting ceremony.
  • Santa will arrive by fire truck at 4 p.m. and will join families in the Hamden Rotary Pavilion for a visit and photos. Refreshments will be provided by the Rotary Club.
