Kayak for a Cause at the Fifth Annual Sunset Paddle in Westport

Earthplace logoEarthplace is excited to partner with DownUnder Kayaking in Westport to host the fifth annual Sunset Paddle along the Saugatuck River this Thursday, Aug. 14 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Outdoor enthusiasts and water lovers alike are invited to come out for a fun evening of stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking, guided by an Earthplace Naturalist who will be talking about the life within and around the river.

Following the laid-back paddle along the water, a light dinner and drinks will be served at the shore for a beautiful and relaxing sunset dining experience. Tickets for this fantastic summer event are $45 and include dinner as well as all necessary equipment—perfect for a date night out or an evening of relaxation with friends. Even better, proceeds from the Sunset Paddle event will benefit the Earthplace Harbor Watch Program, which seeks to protect and restore the waters of the Long Island Sound.

The staff and volunteers at Harbor Watch conduct water quality testing and monitoring services along the local rivers and harbors of this estuary, helping to ensure that the ecosystem within the Long Island Sound continues to improve and thrive. Numerous rivers along the shoreline empty into the Sound, including the Quinnipac in New Haven, the Rippowam in Stamford and the Norwalk River.

This year’s Sunset Paddle will kick off at DownUnder Kayaking, located at 575 Riverside Avenue in Westport, just minutes away from the Morningside Gardens apartment community in Norwalk.

These apartments for rent in Norwalk are located not only a short distance from the Long Island Sound, but also the bustling SoNo district, where there is always something fun to do or see!
