Help Feed Families in Need at the Shoreline Walkathon this Weekend

Community Dining Room in BranfordIf you are a part of the Montoya apartment community in Branford, this weekend is a great time to put on your walking shoes, enjoy the spring weather and come together to raise money to help feed local families.

The Community Dining Room will be hosting its 11th Annual Shoreline Walkathon this Saturday, April 26 on the Branford Town Green.  Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to walk, jog or run at their own pace along the three-mile route, and will be provided with lots of fun and exciting entertainment after crossing the finish line.

This family-oriented event will include music supplied by a popular local band and will also feature a magic show with Jeff Horton. Free snacks will be available to attendees, and prizes will be awarded to the team that raises the most money, the individual who raises the most money and the most creative team name. Special guests will include the 2014 Grand Mashal and beloved community member Eunice Lasala, First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove and Chris Velardi from Channel 8 News.

The Community Dining Room is a non-profit organization that serves the south central Connecticut shoreline by providing more than 50,000 meals each year to struggling families. Towns served include Branford, North Branford, East Haven, Guliford and Madison.
