Hamden, CT’s Morgan Amarone Crowned Miss Connecticut

By

Hamden apartment rentalsThe final contestants excitedly held onto each other at the recent Miss Connecticut Pageant in New London, CT until the unbelievable moment when the announcement was made naming Morgan Amarone Miss Connecticut. Morgan, 23 years young, will spend the upcoming months preparing for her journey to compete for the Miss America crown. The national pageant for Miss America which will take place in las Vegas in January 2012 stresses self-confidence, talent, personal growth and community service as well as academics.

Ms. Amarone is well versed in pageant activities having run twice before in 2006 and in 2008. Prior to taking the leap onto the Miss Connecticut stage, she competed in a local pageant in Southington, CT in October of 2010 which led her to advocating on behalf of cancer prevention and awareness. She also speaks to kids about health lifestyle, and recently published a book entitled “Madison’s Journey,” which describes the journey of the book’s title character as she experiences and learns to understand the plight of a friend, Sophie. Madison’s tale is one of loving friendship, caring and understanding. It is a brilliant story, and offers a valuable tool for parents, caregivers and anyone in the medical field assisting children facing illness. Morgan is donating the proceeds of the book to the American Cancer Society. For further info, visit the Bryson Taylor Publishing website.

Morgan’s accomplishments are not just “all about looks,” as she earned a B.S. degree in accounting from Hamden’s Quinnipiac University in May 2010, is an audit associate at Deloitte, and is currently working on obtaining an MBA in healthcare at Quinnipiac. As a result of the pageant, she received a $5,000 scholarship, and she also received a $250 scholarship for the overall interview award. Undoubtedly, these funds will prove to be most helpful in Morgan’s pursuit for an MBA.

The first runner-up in the Miss Connecticut pageant was Jessica Lesage, a Wallingford, CT resident, and interestingly, she and Morgan performed jazz dances as their contributions to the talent portion of the program. At Quinnipiac they were in the same dance company as well as the same sorority. The second runner-up was Acacia Courtney also of Hamden.  If you reside in one of our Hamden apartment rentals, we’re sure you’ll want to join us in congratulating these fine young ladies and honoring their achievements.
