Explore the Great Outdoors at SMNC near Hoyt Bedford

SMNCOutdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers won’t want to miss the chance to test their survival skills this weekend at Stamford Museum and Nature Center (SMNC)! The Science of Survival outdoor adventure event is coming up on Sunday, Dec. 14 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and residents of Hoyt Bedford apartment community in Stamford are invited to join in on the fun.

Perfect for families and children ages six and up, participants will have a hands-on experience in determining the most important items in a survival setting, discovering various fire-starting methods, building a shelter and more. You’ll also be able to try your hand at making smoke with a bow drill and work with team members to create your own hut in the wooded area at SMNC.

Because space in SMNC’s outdoor adventure series is limited, pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Members can sign up for $5 each, while non-members can purchase tickets for $8 each. Call 203-977-6521 to register.

While testing your outdoor skills is a lot of fun, knowing that you have a cozy apartment to go home to will make this day even better! Hoyt Bedford is in a fantastic location near the heart of Stamford and features charming brick pathways, towering oak and beech trees, spacious floor plans with an abundance of natural light, and beautiful interiors with ceramic tiled kitchens, hardwood flooring and large closets. Heat, hot water and gas are also included in monthly rent, giving residents a flat monthly rate that doesn’t fluctuate, regardless of the weather outside.
