Earthplace Offers Animal-Focused Children’s Programs This Week

Earthplace logoLooking for some fun and educational activities for your child? Earthplace will delight children of any age with its variety of wildlife, hands-on activities and interactive programs! This Thursday and Friday, Earthplace Nature and Discovery Center is offering Story and Animal Programs, Animal Hall Feedings and After-School Adventures.

Children always love to learn about new animals, especially through up-close encounters! For younger guests of Earthplace, Story and Animal Program offers an opportunity to spark an early fascination with animals and nature. Join the fun tomorrow and Friday at 10 a.m. for an animal-themed story and an encounter with one of Earthplace’s Animal Hall residents. This program is designed for children 5 and under and will take place in the Natureplace museum room. Price is free for members, and is included with the price of admission for non-members.

Following story time, Earthplace will host an Animal Hall Feeding from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on both Thursday and Friday. This program is led by Earthplace staff who will be feeding some of the center’s animals while answering questions from guests.  With the huge variety of animals in the center’s sanctuary, visitors can learn about the habits and eating preferences of anything from blue jays to bearded dragons to rabbits!

Also taking place this week is the After-School Adventures program, hosted at Earthplace from 4 to 5 p.m. both tomorrow and Friday. Attendees of the Thursday program will get to experience an exclusive Animal Encounter day which will focus on insectivores, specifically the residents of Earthplace! Friday participants will get to enjoy a Trail Walk with a focus on tree structure while exploring the center’s 74-acre wildlife sanctuary. Admission for After-School Adventures is $12 for members and $16 for non-members.

Earthplace offers a variety of programs and events year-round to educate the community about nature, animals and the environment. Explore the center at 10 Woodside Lane in Westport, or visit the Earthplace website for more information.
