Dragons are Coming to Norwalk’s Maritime Aquarium!

Bearded DragonCome see a collection of real-life dragons at The Maritime Aquarium’s newest exhibit, “Dragons! Real or Myth?” Opening on Saturday, Feb. 14, this exciting exhibit will feature some of the Aquarium’s most unique reptiles and is free with aquarium admission.

If you don’t believe in dragons, The Maritime Aquarium might be able to change your mind – or at least give you a new perspective. “Dragons! Real or Myth?” will include creatures from around the world that have been named after dragons, including dragon moray eels, the weedy sea dragon, dragon wrasse fish, and land lizards such as flying dragons, bearded dragons, frilled dragons and more! The star of the exhibit is the black dragon, a water-monitor lizard with a special gene that makes it completely black in color. As one of an estimated 31 black dragons in the country and the only black dragon in a U.S. aquarium or zoo, this opportunity is too rare to pass up! In addition to highlighting the unique attributes of modern-day “dragons,” this exhibit will explore stories and legends about mythical dragons and their roles in culture throughout the centuries.
