Don’t Let April Showers Keep you from Fun

Rainy Day Fun at Maritime Aquarium in NorwalkDon’t let April showers keep you from having some fun! Grab your umbrella and your camera, and prepare to have a splashing good time this weekend at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk. Spend the day seeing exciting exhibits, watching a “wild” IMAX movie and even touching some sea creatures.

The Maritime Aquarium currently offers special exhibits like Jiggle a Jelly, Meerkats and Africa: From the Desert to the Sea, as well as several other exhibits that are sure to make your visit memorable.

What does a moon jellyfish feel like? The Jiggle a Jelly exhibit allows guests to touch the top part of a jellyfish while visiting the Aquarium. This special exhibit will not be around much longer and is only available on the weekends, so plan your visit now. The Meerkats exhibit offers guests up-close encounters with the fun, active animals. A viewing bubble will put you right in the middle of the action. Discover some amazing fish from the Great Rift Valley in the exhibit Africa: From the Desert to the Sea. Along with fish, guests can also see giant day geckos, black mud turtles and more.

What kind of seal is the most common in New England waters? Harbor seals, of course! After examining the giant map of the Long Island Sound located in Newman’s Own Hall, guests can spend some time watching the seal show, which happens daily at 11:45 a.m., 1:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.

Guests can also get a close up view of sharks and other large schooling fish in the Once Beyond the Sound exhibit. The giant windows give visitors a one-of-a-kind aquarium experience that is perfect for taking pictures and watching in amazement.

The Maritime Aquarium is conveniently located just five minutes away from Norwalk apartments. Admission for the Aquarium ranges from $12.95 to $19.95 depending on age, and combination tickers for the Aquarium and the Classic IMAX Movie are also available.
