375 Anniversary in Guilford ConnecticutIt is not everyday a town turns 375! Guilford was founded in 1639 and will celebrate its anniversary by hosting the Early Guilford Days Family Festival at five of its historic museums June 28-29. Located less than 15 minutes west of Montoya Condominiums in Branford, children and adults alike can participate in old colonial crafts, and learn bygone skills, such as tinsmithing, candle making and herb mixing. Admission for children is free, and adults will pay $3.75.

An old family home built by Reverend Henry Whitfield, the Henry Whitfield State Museum will take festival goers through the process of tinsmithing and teach kids games that were played by colonial children. Instructions on hearth cooking, mixing herbs and dyeing will be offered at the Hyland House Museum, a classic example of salt-box house construction, and the nearby Thomas Griswold House will feature blacksmithing and weaving.
