Ghost Parking Lot Near Hamden Rental Apartments
Posted by: | CommentsThe Hamden rental apartments at Seramonte are located in an area that has a lot of history. At the time the horseshoe shaped, strip shopping mall was erected in 1978, there was a notable roadside public art installation in front of it featuring more than 100 art books and 15 car hulks specially treated and buried in asphalt at various depths in the Plaza parking lot. The cars included a Beetle, a couple of station wagons and an open convertible.
Although the attraction was torn down in 2003 due to excessive cost of restoration and repair and the cul-de-sac is now known as the Ghost Parking Lot, the Plaza still remains a vital source of activity. It offers stores ranging from Marshalls to Subway, Wells Fargo Bank and ShopRite where one can buy just about anything one needs.
Along the sidewalks in front of the stores, there are still a few sculpted works enclosed in large glass structures. Read More→
Move into Your Hamden Apartment Rentals Easily with these Tips
Posted by: | CommentsNo matter how much time you allow, moving into your new Hamden apartment rentals can be an overwhelming task. Since it is hard to keep track of everything you need to pack and do, a great way to do it is to prepare a checklist to use as a guide. It is important to calculate the cost of your move and set up a budget in the early stages of preparation.
The first step is to set up a “moving file” or notebook where you will keep all of the information pertaining to the move in one place. If you plan to make a short-distance move, you may consider doing the move yourself (or with the help of family and friends). If you plan to make a long-distance move, there are several factors to consider such as whether you can do it yourself, or whether you need to hire a moving service. You will also need to plan for either driving or shipping your auto to your new destination. Read More→

The World of E-Books
Posted by: | Comments
In the Colonial era of America, few books were available until Benjamin Franklin started the first lending library in the early 1730’s. Later, Andrew Carnegie who believed in self education, donated millions of dollars to build libraries across the country. According to the Boston Public Library website, the first large free library was opened in Boston, Mass. in 1848. Certainly, public libraries have always played an important role in our society as they provided access to books and materials that may not have otherwise been available. However, the role of the library has been experiencing a significant change.
The Oxford Dictionary of English defines the e-book as “an electronic version of a printed book,” but e-books can and do exist without any printed equivalent. It is a publication in digital form consisting of text and images that is readable on computers and other electronic devices. A personal computer and even a cell phone can be used to read an e-book. Whereas early e-books were more scholarly and technical in nature and written for specialty areas and devoted interest groups, recently e-books have risen in popularity. Read More→
A Good Walk Spoiled
Posted by: | Comments
Motorcycles are emerging from their garages for their first outing of the season. Landscapers, at least in the New Haven area, are doing spring clean ups of the grounds of Branford apartments. Barbecue grills are appearing on decks and patios. Windows are being opened for the first time since last fall. Outside pools and tennis courts are getting prepared for summer.
But now that you can finally see the grass, for many it is time to head to the greens. Mark Twain once described golf as “a good walk spoiled,” but for many the serenity and beauty of golf is the ultimate escape from the hustle and bustle of I-95 commutes and New Haven careers. The Branford area for example has a surprising number of public courses, not to mention many private courses and clubs.
Here are but some of the public and municipal courses in the Branford area, all of which are less than 20 minutes from Branford. Read More→
