Residents of Hamden Rental Apartments Wonder What Happened to Winter
Posted by: | CommentsWhile we have been enjoying the warmer temperatures, residents of our Seramonte Hamden rental apartments can’t help but be amazed that this winter has been one of the mildest in terms of snowfall and temperature since 1967. Last year on Groundhog’s Day, a blizzard swept through New England and blanketed us with snow. This year, Punxsutawney Phil came out of his hole to mild temperatures but saw his shadow and thus predicted six more weeks of winter. But where is the groundhog prophet’s winter? This year’s snowfall is a record low and we’ve been experiencing mild temperatures that have been averaging at least five degrees above normal. Read More→

The statue in Stamford's Jackie Robinson Park, where there will be a number of Black History Month celebrations.
Residents of Stamford rental apartments have plenty of ways to celebrate Black History month in downtown Stamford. Activities range from celebrations to the additions to American culture by African-Americans, recognition of the struggle for civil rights and more.
The Ferguson Library, located just about 10 minutes from our Hoyt-Bedford and Morgan Manor apartments, celebrates Black History Month with a special display of African-American authors on the library’s main floor and special programs. Mark your calendar for an evening of love songs and poetry with Dionne Lamothe at the South End Branch on Feb. 9. The 22nd National African-American Read-in event is Feb. 23 at 4:30 p.m., and the Ferguson Library will present readings for children by community leaders in celebration of Black History Month. The Ferguson Library Offers Activities for Residents of Stamford Rental Apartments
Posted by: | CommentsWhile our weather here at Stamford rental apartments has been mild so far, there’s still three months of winter left. Since we believe in being prepared, we have scoped out a couple of local places of interest that are only a couple of blocks from our Hoyt-Bedford, Morgan Manor and Townhouse apartments where you can go to spend some quality time when the snow is thick.
If you haven’t already stopped by, then you really should check out the Ferguson Library, located on the corner of Bedford and Broad streets. Since it first opened its doors more than 100 years ago at the end of the 19th century, The Ferguson Library has been the heart of the Stamford community. It is a place of learning and education as well as a gathering place where people can meet and exchange ideas. For some of us, it’s even a place to just come in out of the cold, grab a Starbucks latte and catch up on the news of the day. The Ferguson has really kept up-to-date in its services and remains a vital and cutting edge resource for the whole city with a wide selection of titles, exciting events and even e-reader assistance.
For kids, there are services like story hours, crafts and movies. Children in grades two through five can attend a Saturday morning chess club. They can learn the moves in just two classes; and while it’s open to all children, preference will be given to Stamford residents. Space is limited so you’ll have to call ahead to register at 203 351-8242. Read More→

Explore the Festival of Lighthouses Near Norwalk Apartments
Posted by: | CommentsResidents of our Morningside Gardens Norwalk apartments are just a short trip away from one of the season’s most magical local events: an opportunity to walk a trail illuminated by 24 hand-crafted lighthouses. These lighthouses are creatively built using everything from stone, gingerbread, toilet paper tubes, sugar cubes from France and even more crazy materials in the 10th annual “Festival of Lighthouses” at The Maritime Aquarium.
The festival runs now through Jan. 16, 2012, and Aquarium visitors can follow these homemade beacons through the galleries and cast a vote for their favorite. The lighthouse with the most votes wins $1,500! The display is free with Maritime Aquarium admission, normally $12.95 for adults and $9.95 for children, and a trip to the aquarium can easily be an entire day’s worth of learning and wonder.
Rules are kept to a minimum to allow for maximum creativity. Lighthouses must be 3 to 6 feet tall and have a working light, and may not include animal remains (including shells). Beyond that, it’s up to the creators’ imaginations. Entries in the display this year include a lighthouse made out of toilet-paper tubes, another made of welded copper, a Cat in the Hat-themed lighthouse, a lighthouse whose shingles are made from men’s neckties and another made of gingerbread. Stamford Rental Apartments Residents can turn to Dance for Holiday Fun
Posted by: | CommentsHere’s an idea for some great winter fun for those living in Stamford rental apartments! How about a dance class? Not the kind you’re probably picturing with stuffy rooms and dusty windows with old records on a turntable. This one is way more fun. I’m talking about Maria Fiora Dance Studio on Summer Street. It’s only a few blocks south from our downtown Stamford apartment communities but it’s a world away in experience offering a terrific way to stay in shape, try out a new hobby and make some new friends!
Maria and her staff not only offer classes in dance but in health & wellness for stress relief, relaxation and dance for weight loss. They are fully trained and highly experienced in giving lessons to all ages and abilities. They are sure to have something to peak your interest such as an introductory program where students are taught the basics of each type of dance. Afterwards you and your instructor will evaluate which program is best for you.
There’s also private personal training. This is the most direct and efficient way to learn, with a main focus on partnership and the details of leading or following your partner. There are also group sessions with anywhere from six to 20 students. There are even children’s dance classes in Latin, Ballroom, Tango, Salsa and Ballet for ages as young as four! Read More→

A Few Holiday Safety Reminders from Branford Apartment Rentals
Posted by: | CommentsAs December rolls around, it’s time to start bundling up, enjoying time by the fire and breaking out the hot cider. There are always a few important winter safety concerns we would like to remind Branford apartment rentals residents as cold weather and frost begin to affect our lives.
Remember when you are out enjoying shopping or spending time with friends and family, make sure that cars can see you. For those that prefer to do their shopping at super early door busters that pop up around the holidays or busy workers who can’t hit the shops until after dark, this is especially true. An investment in reflective gear, or reflective tape to apply to your current repertoire of winter clothing is a great idea for increasing visibility. Be sure to use crosswalks and follow traffic rules no matter what time of day you’re trying to bag that great deal. Read More→

For instance, the theatre season has opened and, once again, Stamford is playing host to a number of productions from dramatic presentations, to concerts, symphonies and one-man shows.
The Palace Theater in downtown Stamford is a wonderful venue to see live performances. Weird is Normal in October near Your Connecticut Apartments
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s now October; a time when you expect to walk out of your Connecticut apartments and see something a little unusual. Did you know that in common years January starts on the same day of the week as October, but no other month starts on the same day of the week as October in leap years? October ends on the same day of the week as February every year and January in common years only. And in leap years, October starts on the same day as August of the previous year. Now that you are thoroughly confused, suffice it to say that October is commonly associated with autumn in our part of the world.
Although many of Connecticut’s fall festivals have already taken place, there are still lots of festivals yet to come. You can start planning your upcoming weekend activities by visiting http://festivalnet.com/state/connecticut/ct.html for further info.
If there is any month where weird is normal, most certainly it is the month of October. It’s the month when most folks shop and search for something unusual that on any other day of the year would be considered crazy or odd. It all leads up to one thing – the scariest day of the year – Halloween! It’s the time when werewolves, vampires and all other creatures and monsters can relax, blend in to the population and “fit in” with the rest of us. Read More→
