2009 International Festival of Arts & Ideas starts Saturday

By

IFAIBeginning this Saturday, artists from around the world will be taking over the city of New Haven for the annual International Festival of Arts & Ideas. Now in its 14th year, this exceptional two week festival has solidified its position as one of the world’s most significant art festivals. The Festival showcases hundreds of international events, from over 75 countries, with an impressive scale and scope unmatched in the Northeast. For many New Haven locals, the International Festival of Arts & Ideas is their favorite event of the year.

Art does only only mean paintings and sculptures, although there will be hundreds of one-of-a-kind pieces on display. Truly encompassing the definition of art, the hundreds of events include music, dance, theater, film and more, most of  which are free of charge. Events begin this Saturday, June 13th, and conclude on Saturday, June 27th.

The US Premier of CircusThe Festival is really excited to have the Barabbas Theatre Company performing Circus this year. Circus has never been performed in the United States, making this the American premier of the critically acclaimed production. Grammy award-winning music group They Might Be Giants is performing a family concert opening weekend. There are too many events and too many headliners to go through them all, but this is THE event to experience a variety of cultures through the arts, and you cannot miss it.

Those that live in the New Haven apartments Seramonte are incredibly lucky to have this exceptional festival going on right in their backyard. The International Festival of Arts & Ideas draws people from all of the world to Connecticut, most of which cannot see everything because they are unable to take a two week vacation. But residents at these luxury apartments in Hamden can conveniently attend every event they want throughout the two week festival and still make it to work or school everyday. So, be smart and look at the event schedule for the festival so that you can plan out the next two weeks accordingly.
